As someone who sells ready-made Canva templates in my own Template Shop plus several other digital platforms, this is by far one of the most common questions that I receive each day!
For a while, I had considered adding these instructions inside each of my PDF guides, but Canva likes to change things up every now and then! Like c'mon, seriously? So instead of trying to keep up with revising multiple guides, I've chosen to add it to one spot on my website instead!
Now you will always find the most current instructions for how to add new templates to your own Canva account right down here! 👇

If this is your first time… Congratulations! You’re going to LOVE using ready-made templates! If you’ve ever used Canva templates in the past and were required to ‘Make A Copy’ before using them, please know that’s not how I roll! All of my template packs are genuine templates and not a shared document that others can mess up! Before we get started though, here’s an important reminder:
The Canva phone apps for both iOS and Android are good for making quick edits but I always suggest doing your initial set up and most of your primary designing at your desk!
So let’s get you started!
You’ll need to have an account on Canva.com to use Canva templates.
If you already have a Canva account, skip to step 2.
If you don’t have a Canva.com account, you need to set up a FREE account to get started! This step takes only 10 seconds and you’ll be designing in no time!
You MUSTmake sure thatyou're already logged intoyour Canva.com account first!
Whether you just created your first Canva account or you’ve had one for years, please go double-check that you’re actually already logged in before proceeding to step 3.
Connect to the templates you want to add!
Start by locating the template link you were provided to access the Canva design templates.*
When you click on that link, you are immediately brought to a new browser tab or window that reads: “A template created by Casey Evans was shared with you, start designing now!”
Below that you’ll see a preview of the templates and finally a blue button that reads: “Use Template”. All you’ve gotta do is click that button to add your new templates!
*NOTE: For all of my free and paid Canva templates, the link(s) to access them are located under a section clearly named ‘ACCESS THE CANVA DESIGN TEMPLATES’ and it’s usually on Page 3 or 4 of the PDF guide you received from me.
Get ready to start designing!
Once you click on that “Use Template” button, your copy of the template pack is immediately opened so you can view and edit them inside Canva!

No, you don’t have to do Steps 01 - 04 every time!
From this point forward, when you go back to your Canva ‘Home’ page or the ‘All your designs’ page, you will now see the template pack located there for all future use!
